Pleural thickening is scarring of the lining of the lung. Like asbestosis, this can cause significant breathing difficulties, but is often less serious.
Pleural plaques are usually symptomless scars around the lungs. Although pleural plaques are linked with asbestos, the Courts have ruled that you can't claim compensation for them.
